What is multi-tier pallet racking?
Multi-tier pallet racking is a storage system designed to integrate picking levels directly accessible through walkways, enabling the vertical development of warehouse operations and making full use of the available building height. The system is based on pallet racking structures configured as the supporting framework of a multi-level installation, creating additional operating levels dedicated to manual picking activities. Unlike conventional pallet racking, which operates from a single working level, multi-tier systems transform vertical space into usable operational areas, providing direct access to upper-level picking locations and increasing storage and picking capacity within the same footprint. Unlike independent mezzanine floors, multi-tier pallet racking integrates storage structures and access walkways into a single engineered system. Rather than being an additional structure installed above the warehouse, it is a unified solution in which racking and operational levels work together to support storage, accessibility and picking efficiency.
