Sustainability & ESG

At Modulblok, sustainability is an integral part of the corporate strategy: a commitment that guides our daily choices, from energy resource management to workplace safety, up to compliance with the highest ethical and governance standards. Our ESG vision (Environmental, Social, Governance) combines environmental, social, and organizational responsibility to build a solid, transparent, and future-oriented industrial model.

ESG Policy

Our ESG Policy provides the strategic framework defining principles and concrete objectives in environmental, social, and governance matters. It translates into measurable actions the will to reduce environmental impact, promote well-being and safety, and consolidate ethical management practices.

  • Definition of ESG principles applied across all corporate areas.
  • Measurable objectives for emission reduction and consumption optimization.
  • Integration of ESG aspects into long-term corporate strategy.

Certified Carbon Footprint (including Scope 3)

Measuring and reducing emissions is a cornerstone of Modulblok’s environmental strategy. Since 2024, the company reports greenhouse gas emissions in compliance with ISO 14064-1:2018, certifying the organizational Carbon Footprint through third-party validation.

The analysis covers not only direct emissions (Scope 1) and indirect emissions from energy use (Scope 2), but also Scope 3 emissions, related to the entire value chain: transport of raw materials and finished products, procurement, and packaging. This decision, uncommon among SMEs in the sector, represents a distinctive step towards transparent and comprehensive reporting of our environmental impact.

Through this certified tool, Modulblok can set quantifiable reduction targets, monitor progress, and strengthen dialogue with clients, partners, and stakeholders on the basis of verified data.

Green Energy: over 60% of consumption from renewable sources

Energy is a strategic area for reducing environmental impact. Modulblok has invested in expanding its photovoltaic plant at the Amaro facility, increasing its capacity from 500 kWh to 900 kWh.

Thanks to this project, an ever-growing share of corporate electricity consumption is covered by internally produced renewable energy. The company is also considering the purchase of Guarantees of Origin (GO certificates) to cover residual needs, with the goal of achieving 100% renewable energy by 2025.

This pathway reinforces Modulblok’s commitment to a sustainable and responsible industrial model, in line with international best practices.

ESG Supply Chain Policy

Sustainability extends beyond our plants: it encompasses the entire supply chain. The ESG Supply Chain Policy sets strict criteria for our partners, requiring environmental, social, and governance responsibility throughout the procurement cycle. This allows us to ensure quality, traceability, and transparency for the benefit of clients and the market.

  • Application of ESG principles to suppliers.
  • Selection and monitoring based on responsibility and sustainability criteria.
  • Qualified partnerships for sustainable and traceable materials.

ESG Ratings: EcoVadis and Cerved

Modulblok’s sustainability is recognized and assessed by independent bodies through ESG rating systems that measure corporate performance across environmental, social, and governance dimensions. These ratings are not only an external indicator of solidity but also a tool of transparency towards clients, partners, and stakeholders.

The scorecard highlights particularly strong results in the environmental dimension (72/100), thanks to structured policies and measures on consumption reduction, waste management, and certifications such as ISO 14001. Strengths include energy and emission audits, use of recovered materials, responsible wastewater management, and internal training on hazardous substances.

Cerved

The 2025 Cerved ESG rating assigned Modulblok a score of 65/100, placing the company in the High Performance category. The results are balanced across the three dimensions: Environmental (61/100), Social (72/100), and Governance (62/100). The report emphasizes the robustness of environmental policies, the high percentage of waste sent for recycling (98.46%), the full adoption of permanent contracts for employees, and the implementation of the Organizational Model 231 and the Code of Ethics.
