NaturaSì – Multi-temperature logistics system for organic distribution

NaturaSì S.p.A. selected Modulblok to design and deliver a high-complexity logistics platform, engineered to support the integrated management of a wide assortment of organic products within multi-temperature environments, while ensuring high standards of safety, reliability and operational continuity.

The challenge

The Bologna distribution hub was required to address highly demanding logistics requirements:

• management of 65,000 SKUs with different formats, weights and storage conditions;
• coexistence of ambient-temperature areas and humidity-controlled zones for fresh products;
• integration of automated pallet storage, loose-case handling and conventional pallet racking;
• space optimisation within a 14,000 m² footprint and 10 m clear height;
• implementation of a seismic-resistant structure, compliant with applicable safety standards.

The key challenge was to combine high storage density, direct accessibility and operational flexibility, while ensuring long-term reliability and future scalability of the system.

The solution

Modulblok designed a modular and fully integrated logistics system, capable of coordinating automated and manual flows within a single, coherent infrastructure.

The solution includes:

• an automated pallet warehouse with stacker cranes, dedicated to loose-case handling;
• conventional pallet racking systems for finished and dry organic products;
• humidity-controlled areas to ensure proper storage conditions for fresh goods;
• a seismic-resistant structural design, ensuring stability and uninterrupted operations.

The modular architecture allows future layout reconfigurations and capacity expansions without invasive structural modifications.
